Here's the typical journey you will take to complete an Apprenticeship or NVQ:
Step 1: Finding out what's best for you
We'll speak to you to learn about your motivations, aspirations and your current job role if you have one. We'll then match you to an appropriate NVQ, Apprenticeship or Apprenticeship vacancy.
Step 2: Meeting your Training Advisor
Once you're signed up to your NVQ or Apprenticeship a specialist Training Advisor will come and see you. Together you'll create your Individual Learning Plan.
Step 3: Numeracy and literacy
In some cases it may be necessary to take a numeracy and literacy test before you begin your qualification. Your Training Advisor will let you know if you need to do this and help you to complete it.
Step 4: Work-based learning
This is the main part of your qualification. About once a month your Training Advisor will visit you and provide you with training and advice. Together you'll build up a portfolio which demonstrates you are able to meet the standards set out in your qualification.
Step 5: Verifying your work
You're reaching the end of your learning journey and your work is ready to be assessed by an Internal Verifier. The Internal Verifier will review your portfolio to ensure it meets the required standard. If it doesn't then your Training Advisor will work with you to give you any additional training you need before resubmitting it to the Internal Verifier.
Step 6: Certification
Congratulations! Your portfolio has been successfully verified and you've earned your qualification. Your qualification is a nationally recognised achievement and highlights your skills and capabilities.
You're done. What next?
You've finished this qualification, but what next? Maybe you want to progress onto further qualifications and training. Your Training Advisor will discuss progression routes with you - just tell them where you want your career to go and they can help you get there.
