Ingeus to deliver New Departure Lounge Service at HMP Nottingham
2 Feb. 2026
From 2nd February 2026, Ingeus will deliver the HMP Nottingham Departure Lounge, a welcoming space designed to support people during the crucial first hours after release from prison. The service offers immediate practical and emotional assistance, helping individuals take confident steps toward a positive future.
Ingeus staff with lived experience of the criminal justice system and a team of Ingeus Peer Mentors, also with lived experience and graduates of the Ingeus Academy, will provide reassurance, guidance, and practical support in a non-judgemental environment. By working closely with prison staff, probation, and community organisations, the Departure Lounge ensures continuity of care and helps to ensure a smoother transition back into the community. This includes practical support such as making onward appointments, arranging transport and guidance on employment and housing.
James Foreman, Ingeus East Midlands Regional Manager, said:
“Leaving prison can be overwhelming, and the first few hours are critical in shaping someone’s future. The Departure Lounge at HMP Nottingham provides a safe, supportive space where people can access practical help and reassurance from mentors who truly understand their rehabilitative journey.”
The service will run until 1st February 2027. Offering practical support and hope, the Departure Lounge aims to make resettlement a smoother, safer journey for everyone.
