Celebrating positive male role models in the workplace

Chris Brown, Learning & Development Lead for Ingeus Justice Services and our MENtality Group Lead, shares why positive male role models matter and how they’re shaping a more inclusive, supportive workplace culture.

At Ingeus, we believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and inspired in their professional journey.

This International Men’s Day (19th November), we’re shining a light on the importance of positive male role models, those who lead with integrity, empathy, and purpose.

Whether it’s a colleague who checks in on your wellbeing, a manager who leads with compassion, or a teammate who lifts others up, positive male role models help redefine what leadership and strength look like.
They challenge outdated norms and show that being a man in today’s workplace means being authentic, vulnerable, and supportive.

The power of the MENtality network

The MENtality group at Ingeus is a safe space for open conversations around men’s wellbeing, mental health, and personal growth. The group encourages men to speak up, share their experiences, and support one another through life’s challenges.

Sometimes, just knowing you’re not alone can make all the difference. MENtality is about creating that space where men can be real, be heard, and be supported. The group welcomes all colleagues, regardless of gender, to join discussions, share insights, and help foster a culture of empathy and understanding.

What does a positive male role model look like?

A positive male role model isn’t defined by job title or seniority, it’s about how you show up for others. It’s someone who mentors with empathy, who listens without judgment, who isn’t afraid to say, “I’m struggling too.” It’s the colleague who advocates for inclusive practices, who celebrates others’ successes, and who leads with compassion.

When men see others leading with authenticity, it gives them permission to do the same. It’s not just about being a role model, it’s about being a mirror for others to see what’s possible.

Real impact, real change

Positive male role models help create workplaces where men feel empowered to be themselves, and to lift others up. They help dismantle stigmas around mental health, redefine masculinity, and build cultures of trust and belonging.

At Ingeus, we’re proud to celebrate these role models, not just on International Men’s Day, but every day. Because when we support one another, we all thrive.
