Emily is sharing knowledge and shaping careers

Career progression looks different for everyone, but for Emily Body it has meant turning a passion for supporting others into a role where she can make an impact every day. Having developed from Functional Assessor to Clinical Trainer, she now combines clinical practice with helping new colleagues build their confidence and skills. 

Emily built her clinical experience in the NHS and brought her knowledge and skills to Ingeus, where she now works as both a Functional Assessor and Clinical Trainer within the Health Assessment Advisory Service. 

The dual role allows her to continue supporting claimants while helping fellow healthcare professionals develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their own careers. 

"What I love most about my job is that no two days are the same," says Emily. 

That variety is one of the things that first stood out to her about life at Ingeus. 

As a Functional Assessor, Emily carries out assessments with claimants via telephone, video and face-to-face appointments. Alongside this, she delivers training to new entrants and existing colleagues, helping them navigate everything from assessment processes to changes in practice. 

The balance gives her the opportunity to apply her clinical expertise in different ways while continuing to learn herself. 

"I get to work with a wide range of people, all from different clinical backgrounds. We all come together, share experiences and knowledge and support one another."

"What's good about the culture at Ingeus is that you're never on your own in a situation. There’s lots of support. There's always people you can reach out to, from your Service Delivery Managers to your Clinical Support Lead, and also the colleagues that are on your team as well."

Continuous learning has been a major part of Emily's journey with Ingeus. Throughout her time with the organisation, she has taken part in a range of development opportunities that have enabled her to expand both her clinical expertise and leadership capabilities. 

"I've had lots of opportunities to do lots of different training courses and lots of progression opportunities." 

One of the most significant milestones came when she undertook Clinical Coach training. 

"Initially, I was supporting new entrants through their third stage of training to help them with their assessments each day. From there I realised how much I enjoyed supporting others with their learning, and I then completed my training to become a Clinical Trainer." 

Today, supporting others remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of her role. 

The Ingeus value that resonates most strongly with Emily is "believing in everyone", a principle she puts into practice every day. 

"It's really important to be able to share your knowledge with others, help support them, and build their confidence as they grow on their learning journey." 

Her training responsibilities have also helped her develop new skills of her own. 

"This has allowed me to continue to develop my own knowledge and clinical skills, as well as my ability to train others."
