Lewis is on track with career path

In a career spanning casinos, banking, and painting and decorating, working at Ingeus sits firmly at the top of Lewis’ list. The 35-year-old Engagement Manager is in a job he loves and working for a company he respects. What’s more, he’s using his wealth of experience to good effect.
“I bounced around jobs until I was 22,” explains Lewis, who lives in Leigh. “I didn’t know what I wanted to do, apart from I always wanted to lead a team of people. Having had so many different managers over the years means I’ve been able to learn from them and mould the type of leader I want to be.”
Lewis’s career with Ingeus began in 2021. Starting as an Engagement Advisor, he soon moved up to Engagement Team Leader before securing his current role in 2023. Showing innovative and supportive leadership, he has since been shortlisted for a Frontline Manager of the Year industry award.
“It wasn’t straightforward getting the role I’m in now,” reveals Lewis, who is based in Manchester city centre. “I first applied just after starting as Team Leader, thinking it was too good an opportunity to pass up. I wasn’t ready for the job; I had the will but not the skill. I took the feedback and, alongside ongoing support, made sure I was ready when the opportunity arose again.”
It’s this supportive and positive culture which stands out to Lewis – values he sees clearly in his own manager, as well as ones he’s keen to pass to his own team.
He says: “Ingeus isn’t just a company that talks its values. They are used to generate a healthy and positive attitude among employees. It makes you want to do better and mix that into the work you do. Everyone supports each other and pulls together.
“I’m extremely lucky with the manager I have – I’m a creative person and challenge processes. There’ve been times when my ideas would never have worked but she would supportively challenge until I found the right answer.”
Alongside supporting his team’s wellbeing, Lewis is keen to encourage career development and upskilling. He also commends the support they give to each other:
“I have over an hour commute to work each day, but I wouldn’t trade that for a different job. My team are second-to-none, they’re incredibly supportive and flexible. But then, so is Ingeus.
“Ingeus lets people have a voice – they will always listen and take ideas on board. They want to see people thrive and be the best version of themselves, which opens up so many opportunities for career growth and development.”
