JETS boosts Simona’s new career trajectory

Computer science student, Simona Moga has devised the perfect programme of paid employment and university study to create a new and rewarding career path.

Delighted to be back in work, 32 year old Simona from Wood Green in London was made redundant in 2020 from her role in a sales distribution company as a result of the pandemic.

She was referred in November by Wood Green Jobcentre Plus to the Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS) programme, delivered across London by Ingeus. Specialist employability coaches provide tailored support and online training to participants in receipt of Universal Credit to help them find work.

The programme’s full name is Central London Works, Work and Health Programme Job Entry Targeted Support (CLW WHP JETS) and is managed by Central London Forward to help residents in Central London who have been affected by the pandemic.

Simona was helped to update her CV, prepare a cover letter and was enlisted on a series of workshops that offered advice and tips on how to raise her presence on online work-related platforms.

“The workshops were extremely useful and I learnt how to improve my Linkedin profile,” commented Simona. “Muna Hayle worked with me as my personal employment coach and thoroughly prepared me for job interviews. She would research the company that had advertised the vacancy and then stage a Q&A session that tested my knowledge and responses. It felt like the real thing, which ensured that I was totally prepared for the proper interview.”

Employment coach Muna Hayle said: “Simona was eager to learn and keen to get back into employment. She has always taken my advice and applied it well.”

Simona is now working part-time in an administrative role at a local Covid vaccination centre while completing a three year degree course studying computer sciences at the London Metropolitan University.

She added: “I am passionate about technology and decided last year that I would plan a career change. Thanks to the support that I received through the JETS programme, I can now combine my part-time working role with my studies that will hopefully lead to a new career.”
