Filming tips

Choose a good location for filming:

  • Make sure you are in a well-lit space (natural light is best) with no shadows on your face.
  • Stand in front of a plain wall if possible. Don’t stand in front of anything with any logos, brand names or swear words.
  • Make sure there isn't anything behind you that could look like its growing out of the top of your head.
  • Make sure there isn't any background noise.

Position the camera:

  • Hold your phone horizontally, at the same level as your face, so that you are not looking straight down the camera lens.
  • Make sure that your head and shoulders are in the frame.
  • Hold the phone still and try not to move about - use a tripod, selfie-stick or place the camera on a steady surface if possible.

Prepare:

  • Do a practise run to check the sound quality and the positioning of the camera.
  • Plan what you’re going to say.
  • Make sure that you look clean and presentable. Please do not wear anything with a big logo on it.

Now you're ready to film:

  • Don't talk too quickly, speak clearly and try not to mumble.
  • Smile! You’re on camera.
