Helping people in different ways

30 Apr 2025
Binita is a clinical support lead at Ingeus, responsible for a team of health professionals delivering functional assessments in a non-clinical environment. At work, she’s also a mental health ally and sits on our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion employee resource group. At home, she enjoys nothing more than spending time with family and friends, or running her fledgling hobby business, doing hair, makeup and henna tattoos for special Asian events. She’s an on-the-go, all round people person who takes pride in a job well done while supporting her extensive team.

We asked Binita what drives her to step up in so many areas and how she’s supported to undertake her many and varied roles. Here’s what she said…

About her role

I thrive on change – we’re also renovating our house! After various nursing roles and a master’s degree in diabetes, I saw the role for a clinical assessor six years ago and thought it would offer a better work life balance – it does. I was promoted to clinical support lead three years ago.

I like to help people in different ways and ensuring our assessments are completed quickly and to an exceptional standard is what our customers want. Training is an important part of that and as a team we’re currently undertaking training in back-office processes so we can understand how better to support a timely and effcient journey.

I also like to step back in and complete my own assessments to keep my skills fresh. I work alongside a non-clinical manager who deals with more HR-related team requests, so my time is spent overseeing clinical delivery, which is what I enjoy most.

About her volunteer positions

Ingeus has a strong focus on mental health, and I was keen to train as a mental health first aider when my role was transferred here in 2024. Working remotely has its benefits but interaction with others is vital in our team. As with any health role, difficult situations occur and it’s important to be able to offload, whether its work related or not.

Joining the employee resource group for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion has been enlightening too. Again, Ingeus prides itself in this area and it’s evident that it’s taken seriously. I was delighted to be the face of Ingeus for Diwali in a video that was shared across the company’s platforms.

About life at Ingeus

I really like that Ingeus is values driven. ‘Taking pride’ and ‘owning it’ sit well with me.

Ours is a changeable sector to work in but Ingeus is constantly striving to improve and I feel listened to, that my thoughts are taken on board. Senior people don’t feel ‘senior’, I could reach out to them if I needed to.

My manager is very supportive and there’s a positive culture of getting things done. I don’t struggle to request equipment for my team for instance.

The staff health and wellbeing support is also very apparent. There’s lots of therapy options, and dental and eye test vouchers that you can use for family members too.

It all just makes it a really nice place to work!
