Improving financial ability adds to stability

Finance, Benefits and Debt (FBD) services help people on probation to understand banking, stabilise debt, and claim benefits. These services are part of the Ministry of Justice’s Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS). Part of the probation system, these services are commissioned and delivered at a local and regional level to provide flexible, responsive services to help break the cycle of reoffending. 

We offer a fully integrated support tailored to the individual needs of male service users, over the age of 18, with specialist support from our FCA registered and regulated supply chain partners, Access 2 Advice and Birmingham Settlement.  

Our team of experts helps people on probation to make positive choices, transforming their financial ability and helping them to plan for the future.

Our Finance, Benefits and Debt services are delivered through modular provision, supported by ongoing one-to-one sessions and online learning.

• Case Workers provide practical help, support and interventions and make referrals to our FCA accredited supply chain partners. 
• Community Support Workers provide mentoring and wrap-around support, many of whom have lived experience.
• Supply Chain partners provide the specialist support and access to FCA accredited interventions.
• Team Leaders coordinate our service and seek further local help and support where required.

Peer mentoring

Our peer mentoring scheme is central to all of our justice services. This scheme quickly establishes a strong rapport with people in prison or on probation, earning their trust and providing a true sense of empathy due to their own experiences of the justice system. This also allows opportunities to the Peer Mentors themselves and supports them on their own journey.
