People in prison or on probation often face health inequalities that can harm their chances of reintegrating into society. With a higher risk of leading an unhealthy lifestyle, smoking and misusing drugs or alcohol, mental health problems are also more prevalent, and they are at a higher risk of self-harm and even suicide.
Personal Wellbeing services are part of the Ministry of Justice’s Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) which we deliver to help people get back on track. Ingeus delivers Personal Wellbeing services in the East Midlands (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire); West Midlands (Birmingham and the Black Country, Staffordshire, Warwickshire); Yorkshire and the Humber (West Yorkshire, Humberside); and the North East (Northumbria).
We provide tailored, one-to-one support from sympathetic, experienced advisors to help people turn their lives around. Our Personal Wellbeing advisors also help people access further support from our partners, including Change Grow Live and Pact. Some of our participants even go on to become peer mentors, helping others to transform their lives.
As well as offering advice, guidance and support with emotional wellbeing, we take each person’s lifestyle into account, including their relationships with their family and other associates, to address any problems that might be preventing people in prison or on probation from moving forward.
Our holistic approach to rehabilitating people in prison or on probation means we treat every individual as a person, not a number. Our expert team of health advisors and community partners can further help people experience a whole raft of life-enhancing opportunities to improve their wellbeing.

Fitness instructor, Nick Sprague, is on a mission to spread the benefits of exercise. Already at the helm of a pilot scheme in the Midlands, and seeing clear results, he’s eager for more people to have the opportunity to reap the physical and mental rewards too.
Our peer mentoring scheme is central to all of our justice services. This scheme quickly establishes a strong rapport with people in prison or on probation, earning their trust and providing a true sense of empathy due to their own experiences of the justice system. This also allows opportunities to the Peer Mentors themselves and supports them on their own journey.
